The land parcel compromising the ‘green space of Moscow State University’ was annexed to Gorky Park. Now Gorky Park’s area encompasses approximately 250 ha and comprises the parterre area of Gorky park (44.6 ha), Neskuchny Garden (65.5 ha), the nature reserve ‘Vorobyovy Gory’ (96.9 ha) and the green space of Moscow State University (43.2 ha).
In 2014, it is planned to carry out priority work: clearing fallen and dangerous trees, clear woodland of dead wood, place park benches, rubbish bins and toilet blocks, and clear the area of illegal constructions.
Next year, repair work will be carried out on the lanes and pathways with environmentally friendly surfacing, and a range of public catering facilities and their locations have been considered. Considering the proximity of the green space and its visitors, it is deemed fitting to add rental stations for bicycles and roller-skates.
The area near the main university building is fully suited to accommodate summer musical evenings and music and arts festivals. The large green woodland is ideal for walking and sport. The area is well-known for its landscape. In the 1950s, there were wonderful landscape gardens, which we, at least partially, are planning to restore from archive material.
